Breakdown.

Today the department manager comes to me.  I was surprised to see her.  Apparently she’s “on vacation”.  If that’s true, why the hell is she here?  She does that.  She thoroughly enjoys coming into work on her days off and during vacation time.  Aside from that, I try and avoid her.  She’s often rude to me.  Plus, she called me unprofessional.  Moving on.

“I’d just like to let you know that we’ve decided to promote Nancy to the Counter Manager position.  Her new role is effective immediately.  Any questions?”, she says.  Questions?  Yes, I do.  What is so special that you see in her for reasons of promotion?  Do you really see her as a leader?  What does she do that I don’t that somehow seperates her from myself?  Is it that her monthly volume is higher than mine, or because she opens more charges than me?  Because I don’t get it.  Do you appreiciate someone who at any point if she could– throw their team member under the bus in order to make themselves look better?

I wonder what they base character upon.  My Dad tried to explain how they “owed” the job to her.  Just because of seniority.  Totally heartbroken.  Because I, informed both by our Account Executive and my department manager, that it was in the plan to hire someone outside to be the Counter Manager.  Can I just tell you?  They lied.
